Putterfingers rock Zone Digital with TWO office parties

Buy your staff a round – of minigolf!

Our customer Zone Digital have just thrown a double Putterfingers minigolf party – two office parties at the same time, one in London and one in Bristol! Bristol hired a Supersize course and London hired Funsize. Here are some photos of the fun at both events and a bit of feedback from Zone Digital on how happy they were with their minigolf hires.

Being digital peeps, the folks at Zone couldn’t resist adding these cute AR characters to our minigolf course!

Crazy golf office parties
There was a live link between the two office parties and staff competed on a joint leaderboard connecting Bristol and London.

Zone Digital set up a live link between the two venues so that players in London and Bristol could all compete on the same live leaderboard. We love that idea. In theory, any number of venues could be linked like this, making distance no object. And the Zone Digital party worked so well, it could be scaled up. A whole company’s staff can all play at the same time and compete directly without having to travel to a distant venue. A company-wide putt-a-thon! How’s that as an idea for your next corporate bash? Give us a call and we’ll arrange it!

100% fun was had

For this double hire, Putterfingers delivered the equipment to London and Bristol and set out the courses for the event.

Here’s what Ben Wallace from Zone Digital told us after the events:

“The event went really well, Can you thank the two guys that came to Bristol, they did a fantastic job. Will definitely recommend Putterfingers to others.

Thanks a lot for making it so easy.”

Perks at work: employees love minigolf

Go beyond doughnuts and be like Google! Offer your staff one of the best perks –  minigolf

An article titled The Power of Perks in Incentives Magazine states that employee performance and business revenue can be significantly boosted by employee wellbeing packages including office games. One company in Australia, it reports, calculated that on every $1 it spent in a 12-month period on perks including a games room, $11 was returned. It’s now a certainty that increasing employee engagement is a ‘hidden pay check’ that can be seen as cutting salary costs dramatically. According to research by Nuffield Health, 87% of finance and HR directors in UK companies with over 1000 employees indicate that health and wellbeing is being discussed at board level and 41% view it as a strategic priority.

Minigolf as an employee perk
Show employees some love, and they’re more likely to love you back

Office minigolf is good for employees’ health and morale. It can be installed in a break room or even in the offices themselves, along corridors and in between desks. Putterfingers courses are designed for ultimate portability, so that they can be put away when not in use on a floor footprint of just 1 x 1.5m – e.g. under the stairs or in a store room. An entire course fits into a standard lift shaft, so no building is minigolf-proof!

Go beyond a weekly box of doughnuts (or bananas, if you’re a healthy-eating company) and give workers a real perk: a game to play in the office that anyone can have a go at whenever they like. In our experience, employees get creative with an office minigolf course, adding their own obstacles and tweaks, rearranging the interlocking floor tiles to create new shapes and challenges, or making up their own game rules. It’s a constant source of fun and creativity, and gives people a reason to talk to each other where without it they might not. So it’s great for teambuilding.

Office games perks teambuilding crazy golf
Having a minigolf course in an office gives employees a chance to let off some steam, be a bit competitive and enjoy a fun ambience.

Branding the course to the company helps people to equate the company with fun, which boosts morale. Show employees some love, and they’re more likely to love you back. Some high-profile companies, such as Google and LinkedIn, have minigolf courses in their offices, and Putterfingers have hired to Facebook for their staff events. So be like Google. Make your company one of the best to work for.

Putterfingers minigolf courses can be set up indoors or outdoors, and the modular nature of the courses means that they can fit around existing furniture and office layouts. They require no power supply and can be taken down in minutes when necessary. We supply everything that is needed: interlocking astro grass floor tiles, putters, balls, obstacles, cups, marker cones, scorecards and pencils. And we’re happy to add branding to the course to improve employee engagement, morale and productivity.

Office crazy golf fun at Criteo’s London HQ

Office crazy golf

Back in June 2016 we supplied and set up a Supersize office crazy golf course at the London head office of Internet marketing company Criteo. The course was set up at their Bloomsbury offices for a social function. This year they called us again asking for a repeat performance, with ‘something a little different this time’. Happy to oblige, we created a set of special putting obstacles for Criteo’s party which depict London icons: a red bus, a red phone box, a black taxi and Tower Bridge.

Here’s our blog post about last year’s event:

We also got creative with the hole layouts to make them pretty challenging, but not ridiculously challenging, so that guests could still have fun. Maybe our photography skills are not the greatest – our photographer here got his own shadow in the frame – but it doesn’t matter, because the emphasis was on providing Criteo with the best office crazy golf experience we could. Actually the hole in the foreground is pretty fiendish, come to think of it. If you can hit a 3 on that you’re doing well, unless you go airborne to get over the foam bumpers. A well-placed book or coaster might help there!

Once again Ruby Cassin-Davies, Workplace Experience Office Manager for Criteo, was delighted with the crazy golf and she really appreciated the bespoke obstacles of London icons.

The good weather was a bonus,  and with a rooftop terrace just outside it must have been a great party. Incidentally, Putterfingers astro grass interlocking floor mats are UV-treated to protect them from strong sunlight so they won’t lose their colour. So the course could equally well have been outside on the terrace. On the flipside, if it rains then the tiles will drain quickly thanks to the hundreds of little holes they have. There is never any standing water on the putting surface, so play can go on straight after a shower.

Swinging London: Office minigolf

Office minigolf is one of the hottest office party hires in London. One of our recent customers, communications agency Hive Health Group, have been kind enough to send us some photos of their Putterfingers minigolf course in place at their offices in Piccadilly, London.

‘Our event went really well and everyone had a great time playing mini golf in the office,’ said Prateek Shah, Finance Manager. He didn’t mention who was responsible for putting a cow on the course though, but we think it’s an imaginative addition!

Office minigolf hire London

Minigolf is the perfect entertainment to hire for an office party because it brings people together who might not normally interact, and colleages learn something about each other as it soon becomes clear who is the most competitive – if it wasn’t already!

Staff can improvise by adding extra items like pot plants to the courses – or raising a corner of a hole, as seen in the photo above, to make it even more challenging. Office minigolf allows staff to relax and socialise whilst remaining competitive.

Harking back to 2015 and an office minigolf hire to Next15, another communications agency, these were some comments we received from them:

‘Putterfingers have been a great company to do business with, everything was very quick and simple all the communication was very clear and if I had any questions I knew I would get a quick response back.

This is the 2nd time we have used Putterfingers and it won’t be the last. The mini golf idea is fantastic and it really creates a wonderful atmosphere around the office.’

Putterfingers have also supplied mingolf courses to Facebook, Criteo and other leading firms.
